Why does Thirsty Curls Hydrating Lotion contain dimethicone which is not good for curly hair?
Hello, Thanks for your question. Silicones form a thin, waterproof coating around your hair cuticle to keep hair hydrated from within, they help to reduce friction and leave the hair feeling soft, smooth and frizz-free. The silicones we use have been thoroughly safety assessed, Dimethicone, one of the most widely used silicones, is approved by the Food & Drug Administration in the USA. We carefully consider the use of silicones in our leave-on products and continue to follow scientific discussion about environmental factors. Many curly haired people like using silicone based products for slip, but understand its not to everyones preference. Silicones are very effective at keeping naturally dry hair hydrated. Therefore, we selectively use Silicones in our products when a silicone-free formula would not be as beneficial or effective. Hope this helps! Team UG x
