Yes. Our co-founder Claire, a lifelong vegan created Umberto Giannini to be 100% Vegan since launch in 1998. Meaning there has never been and never will be any animal products or by-products in our products or ingredients.

UG products are all created alongside our award-winning salons and mindfully made in the U.K to our strictest quality standards.

Silicones are very effective at keeping naturally dry hair hydrated. Therefore, we selectively use Silicones in our products when a silicone-free formula would not be as beneficial or effective.

All UG products are paraben free.

All Umberto Giannini products are phthalates free.

All our shampoos are SLS-Free (Free from Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) which is known to be harsh and irritating.

Some of our other products are formulated without sulphates including Curl Jelly wash, Banana Butter shampoo, Coily Curl shampoo, Thirsty Curls Shampoo & our Curl Repair Shampoo.

All our products are thoroughly tested by our in-house team and at our salons as part of the development process with real people.

If your skin or hair is sensitive, we suggest using our Scalp Restore range which is designed to be more sensitive to your scalp.

However, if you have any history of skin problems or allergies always speak to your GP before you try any new products and carry out a patch test on your wrist or behind your ear prior to using any of our products for the first time.

We hate packaging waste, that’s why all of our bottles, tubes and jars are fully recyclable. We are disappointed that currently there’s no option to recycle any of our spray pumps, however this is an industry wide issue which is currently being worked on - as soon as we can we’ll be offering fully recyclable packaging on every product.

We are committed to continually evolving our sustainability choices. By the end of 2022 we proudly switched our packaging to more sustainable alternatives including bio-plastic Sugarcane and PCR (Post Consumer Regrind) Plastic - resulting in 93% of our range packaged in recyclable packaging.

Umberto Giannini products are manufactured under the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice, to robust specifications and following all current legal and industry guidelines. With strict guidelines and adherences to cross contamination. Umberto Giannini is a Vegan and against Animal Cruelty company. All products are formulated with Plant Material and Synthetic Ingredients, with no derived materials.

Most UG products do not contain alcohol but some are formulated with Benzyl Alcohol which is produced naturally & synthetically and does not contain ethanol.

We turn off all discount codes including Welcome and affiliate codes during sale periods. All discount codes including Hair Quiz and Welcome discounts cannot be used against Hair Kits, or any items already discounted on site.
